Seinäjen Konerengas
Seinäjoen Konerengas’s online shop migration from WooCommerce to Shopify
Seinäjoen Konerengas sells machinery and tools for agriculture, gardening and forestry, construction, and hobby use. It serves customers both in its physical store and online, but the old WooCommerce-based store had slowed down and reached the end of the road in terms of usability. Sofokus carried out the migration to Shopify, including customisations and the product data transfer. The overhaul gives the online store a foundation that will serve the business well into the future.
The collaboration feels good and the product data transfer went smoothly. Questions have been answered quickly, too.
The starting point: a slowed-down system and declining conversion
The old WooCommerce store and its WordPress plugins had accumulated so much content and so many products over several years that the site had begun to slow down. Every sticky click and sluggish load added up over the course of a day into significant waiting — for the buying customer and for Seinäjoen Konerengas’s own staff alike. Conversion fell even though visitor numbers stayed the same, which hinted that the drop was down to technical issues too, not the market situation alone. The old platform needed to be replaced with something faster and easier to use.
Why Shopify was chosen as the replacement
Shopify was already familiar to Seinäjoen Konerengas from within its own group, where it had earned good experiences. Its usability was convincing compared with the previous store, and the platform’s standard version suited straightforward selling needs well.
Shopify answered exactly the problems the old store had suffered from. It is fast and stable, and the technical upkeep stays with the platform provider: there is no need to look after servers, security, or updates yourself. Ready-made payment and delivery integrations and an extensive app store give the store room to grow.
What the migration involvedThe migration project moved from planning to launch together with the customer, and stayed within both the agreed scope and the budget.
No heavy customizations were needed, so costs stayed moderate.
- A ready-made Shopify theme was chosen as the base and customized to fit Seinäjoen Konerengas’s brand.
- Product data was transferred from WooCommerce to Shopify, and an integration was built together with another system supplier to import product information.
- Payment and delivery methods were configured, along with the store’s basic structure, such as navigation and product categories.
- The old URLs were redirected to the new ones so that search visibility and traffic were preserved.
- The store was tested before launch and checked to work as well on mobile as on desktop.
The result: speed, usability, and more enquiries
The new store opened in May 2026. A faster-loading site and a more effective search smooth out the customer’s buying experience and also make the work of Seinäjoen Konerengas’s store staff easier, as product details and up-to-date prices can be checked quickly in the online store. The contact forms on product pages have also produced more product enquiries and contacts than before.
- A faster, easier-to-use online store
- Improved search that also smooths staff work
- More enquiries coming in through the forms
