System modernisation streamlines Santa Claus Office photography service
A visit to Santa Claus Office in Rovaniemi, located on the Arctic Circle, is a magical experience for Christmas lovers of all ages. Here, you can meet Santa Claus himself every day of the year, and visitors can capture the encounter in photos and videos taken by elves and purchase them as souvenirs on site or from the online shop. We streamlined the visitor experience and the elves’ work by updating the technical backend system of the photography service and improving the related processes.
The goal: a more reliable and streamlined service
Santa Claus Office’s photography service includes several work phases that require technical reliability, as well as integrations between different devices and software. The old system was first carefully audited, after which the parts needing updates were replaced, manual procedures were automated, and overlapping work phases were eliminated.
In the modernised cloud-based system, the photo and video files taken by the photographer elves are automatically transferred from the cameras to their own folders, which can be viewed, edited, and set for sale by the elves working at the till in the user interface we designed. At the end of the visit, each visitor receives a personal code with which they can purchase their photos at the Santa Claus Office till or online shop.
The result: efficiency, usability, and flexibility
The old system was gradually replaced with the new one during the 2022 Christmas season, and it became fully independent in autumn 2023. Santa Claus Village has experienced record-breaking crowds, so the technical functionality of Santa Claus Office’s photography service was immediately put to the test: the system has already processed over 150,000 photo and video orders. The elves working at Santa Claus Office report that their daily work has become easier thanks to the system’s improved usability and more versatile functionality.
